hi, i’m Becker (they/them)
we all need to be seen and witnessed.
whatever it is that feels too hard—be it exploring identity, navigating attachment wounds, combating obsessional sequences, or processing the collective grief under capitalism in the world—one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself is dedicated time just for you and your needs. I would be honored to walk with you on your path.
some things that might be important to you:
I'm a transmasculine non-binary and neurodivergent human specializing in the queer and trans community. I'm a lover of storytelling, a USC film school grad and non-profit programmer disappointed by both world’s treatment of meaningful relationships. I've valued my own mental health journey for several years and decided that connecting with people therapeutically is the only way I could see myself surviving under capitalism.
I'm a relational psychodynamic therapist (what does this mean? our relationship is important and part of the therapy!). I like incorporating what I love from psychoanalytic theory and bringing in postmodern, feminist, and liberatory values. I'm also starting to work more with OCD and can bring in some ICBT.
most of my clients are autistic and/or neurodivergent like me. I love the neuroqueer community.
I work with many queer and trans kids, teens, and young adults, but I also work with adults of all ages.
many of my clients are non-monogamous or polyamorous, sex workers, and/or identify with kink and BDSM. some are also asexual and/or aromantic.
I love group therapy and will shout it from the rooftops. I run weekly ongoing process groups for queer adults. more information here.
when I’m not being a therapist, you can find me programming healing arts-focused spaces for the queer and gender-expansive community through Art Time Presents, providing emotional support as a chaplain for direct actions, or writing my own plays and musicals.
my approach
for me, therapy is relational. the human on the other side of the room (or screen) should feel like precisely that: a human! together, we will create a container in which you can authentically examine your relationships with others as well as the pivotal relationship to self. my approach is to do this in a way that embodies a lot of laughter and creativity, building vulnerability between us to explore the innate heaviness that comes with being alive.
my approach involves seeing you as a whole person while valuing intersectionality. my clinical background includes working with children, teens, and adults. I am passionate about committing to trauma-informed practice, dismantling white supremacy, and uplifting disability justice, neurodiversity, and health at every size while envisioning a future of mutual aid and collective care.
clinical training
I received my MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University.
I specialized in queer and trans youth in my clinical training at Colors LGBTQ Youth Counseling Services, which provides pro bono therapy for youth up to 25 years old.
I am also proud to have trained as an associate therapist with Brave Trails, seeing youth clients and facilitating support groups. I also spend time as Inclusion Staff (on-call mental health support) at summer camp.
